Rachel Marie Terry Mitchell, age 78, of Chatham, entered into rest on July 22, 2015 at Lynchburg General Hospital. Born on June 1, 1937 in Burlington, NC, the daughter of William Harper Terry and Virginia Callahan Terry. She was married to Leon Mitchell, who survives.
She was a member of Oakland United Methodist Church. She graduated with an R.N. from Danville School of Nursing and worked at Danville Memorial Hospital, then went to work for Dr. Willis in Chatham, was the School Nurse at Chatham Hall, was a beautician and bookkeeper and secretary of Chatham Service Center. She is also survived by a daughter, Machelle Mitchell Myers and her granddaughter. She was preceded in death also by her brothers, Harold Terry and Frank Terry.
Burial will be at Hillcrest Burial Park.
