Johnstown Tribune-Democrat, Wednesday, June 6, 2012:

HUSTON – Rev. Ernest W., died June 4, 2012, at his residence at Luthercare, Lititz, Pa. Born Jan. 16, 1912, in Central City, son of John and Lulu (Umberger) Huston. He was a graduate of Hooversville High School, Susquehanna University and the Lutheran Seminary in Gettysburg. He had his master of sacred theology degree from The Mount Airy Lutheran Theological Seminary, Philadelphia. He was ordained at Trinity Lutheran Church, Altoona, by the Allegheny Lutheran Synod of The United Lutheran Church in America. He served as pastor of Betheny Lutheran Church, Philadelphia; Christ Lutheran Church, Oreland; and St. Luke Lutheran Parish, Tamaqua. He took official retirement on Jan. 31, 1977. During his retirement, he served as interim pastor at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Lancaster; Salem Lutheran Church, Kissel Hill; Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Ephrata; Zion Lutheran Church, Akron; Grace Lutheran Church, Lancaster; and Zion Lutheran Church, East Petersburg. After Grace Church called a pastor, he became assistant to the pastor, where he continued to work for 16 more years, after which, at the age of 90, he went into full retirement. During his ministerial career, he was president of the Ministerial Association, Roaring Spring; and a member of the boards of directors of Camp Sequanota, Gettysburg Lutheran Seminary and a Home Missions and Rural Church Work of Central Pennsylvania Synod of the Lutheran Church in America. During some of his retirement years, he served as necrologist of the Lower Susquehanna Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. Member of Zion Lutheran Church, East Petersburg, where he was interim pastor for 17 months. On July 1, 1937, he married Mary Yoder, who passed away Aug. 8, 2007. Survived by daughters, Janet, wife of Charles Loreny, and Ruth, wife of Kim Frick. No viewing or receiving of friends. Private family committal at Kaufman Cemetery. Arrangements by George E.
