Emma Knodel Zeeb was born on December 15, 1892, at Freeman, S. Dak. She was the daughter of Christian and Mathilda (Donner) Knodel.

On December 19, 1915, she was married to Albert Zeeb. They were married at the home of Mrs. Zeeb near Freeman. On January 17, 1916, they moved to their farm home, four miles south of Menno, where they resided until Mr. Zeeb's death on July 7, 1968. They were able to observe their 52nd wedding anniversary on December 15, 1967.

They were the parents of eight sons and three daughters.

She was a dutiful wife and mother, much concerned about her children and grandchildren. After the death of her husband she moved to Menno to live. Ill health weighed heavily upon her.

On Sunday, April 19th she entered the Freeman Community Hospital, where she was called to her eternal rest on Wednesday, May 21st at 11:30 a.m. She attained an age of 77 years, five months and five days.

She leaves three daughters and six sons: Christian Zeeb of West Bend, Wisc.; Gertrude, Mrs. Victor Edelman of Menno; Gideon Zeeb of Yankton; Leona, Mrs. Elmer Gall, West Bend, Wisc.; Eugene Zeeb of Menno; Reinhold Zeeb of Lesterville; Edna, Mrs. Edwin Fillaus, Scotland; Elmer Zeeb of Menno; Reuben Zeeb of Holland, Mich. She was preceded in death by two sons: Ewald in August of 1960, and Helmuth on July 4, 1959. She leaves 26 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Zeeb has three sisters who survive her: Mrs. Mettler of Shafter, Calif.; Mrs. Gertrude Johnson of Freeman.

Mrs. Zeeb has been a member of Salem Reformed Church since her marriage.

Services were held on Sunday, May 24th at 2:00 p.m. in the Salem Reformed Church, Rev. W. E. Odenbach, officiating. Music was by Salem Reformed Men's Quartet, Mrs. Harold Zeeb accompanist. Organist was Mrs. Elmer Frey.

Pallbearers were Jerry Zeeb, Kenneth Zeeb, Robert Zeeb, Lamont Gall, John Fillaus, Jerome Edelman.

Interment was at the Menno Cemetery with Aisenbrey Funeral home of Menno in charge of arrangements.
