Marjorie Shean Harsh, a Silver City resident since 1930, died Tuesday, August 19, 2014. Mrs. Harsh was born October 11, 1926 in Clinton, Iowa; the daughter of James Edward Shean and Alice Brayton Stewart Shean. Marjorie attended St. Mary's Academy and graduated high school from Teachers High School in Silver City. She then went to nursing school at St. Joseph's School of Nursing in Kansas City, MO, graduating with a diploma in nursing and becoming a member of the Cadet Nurse Corp. After returning to Silver City, she worked as a nurse at Watts Clinic and married Robert Currie Harsh in 1948. She lived in Gila and then Silver City and was very active as a volunteer nurse in the community and schools. Mrs. Harsh served two terms as Justice of the Peace in the Gila River Valley. She was an avid gardener and a talented artist. After retirement she enjoyed traveling with her husband, and her painting lessons at the Purple Palette. Mrs. Harsh is survived by four daughters, seven grandchildren, and eight grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Currie Harsh, Brother William Shean, and son Brayton Currie Harsh. No service will be held at family's request.
