He graduated from Mansfield Senior High School in 1959, and went on to serve his country with the U.S. Army from 1959 to 1962. He worked at Ohio Brass for 27 years, until the company shut down. He retired from Mansfield Foundry after 12 years of service. Robert was a member of Jehovah Witnesses-East Congregation. He relaxed by listening to jazz music and had a strong interest in photography. Robert also enjoyed pistol shooting and fishing in the area waterways.
He is survived by two sons, Robert Adkison, Jr. of Dallas, Texas, and Vincent Adkison of Mansfield, Ohio; a grandson, Saben Adkison of Mansfield; a brother, Richard Adkison of Mansfield; and a host of beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; four siblings, Lincoln Wesley "Teddy" Adkison, Jr., Inez Favers, William "Willie" Adkison, and Helen Johnson; and a nephew, Donald Favers.
The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. Monday, July 27, 2015, in the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield, followed by a service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Mansfield Cemetery at a later date.
