Jack Eward Weideman, 78, of Peru, was a professional truck driver who had traveled across all 48 of the continental United States and Canada. He left on his final journey Saturday afternoon, July 18th at 3:00 p.m. this time heaven bound.

He was born January 22, 1937 in Denver, IN to Carroll and Fern (Tull) Weideman. He joined the United States Air Force in 1956 and served until 1960.- most of the time spent in Paris, France. He married his best friend, Kay E. Floyd(Doud) in Peru on April 10th, 1965. She survives along with their daughters, Melissa (Larry) Mullinnix, Ellettsville, IN; Tanya (Brian) Barger, Terre Haute, IN and Stacia (Boyd) Bonifant, Peru, IN. Grandchildren: Krista Mullinnix, Rachel Mullinnix; Brianna (Ryan) Tenges, Rebecca Barger, Kaitlin Bonifant, Jaclyn Bonifant. Great-grandchildren- Azeb Tenges and Hazel Tenges.

He is also survived by sisters, Jane(Max)Frye and Martha Love and a brother, Robert(Marthagene) Weideman,a sister-in-law, Rosie Weideman and numerous nieces and nephews who were all very special to him.

Jack was a member of the Main St. United Methodist Church in Peru and loved his church family and also was a member of Walton Masonic Lodge and Royal Center Eastern Star.

He was preceded in death by his parents(Carroll & Fern), his brothers,(Warren, Harry, Ralph, and Bill) and his sisters,(Primrose Weideman, June Hight, Clara Miller, Alice Long, Annabelle Heltsley and Esther Hodson).

Jack loved life and everyone he met on his journey. He especially loved his family and was crazy about his two little great-granddaughters. He accomplished the only item on his bucket list when he and Kay traveled to Alaska in 2008. He had a special spot in his heart for all small children and had a ministry of giving a quarter to every small child he would see- in a restaurant, at the ice cream stand, at the grocery, anywhere he saw them. He also passed out Werther's coffee caramels to all the ladies who he met. in church, in doctor's offices, wherever they were; he won the heart of every waitress in every restaurant. He was a 15 year survivor of small cell lung cancer and was a laryngectomee who gave hope to many cancer patients.

Family and friends may call from 4-7 Wednesday, July 22nd at Flowers Leedy Funeral Home. Services will be held Thursday, July 23rd at 10:00 AM at the Main Street United Methodist Church, 81 W. Main St, Peru IN. Burial will be at Ever-Rest Memorial Park in Cass County, IN. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Main St United Methodist Church..Arrangements have been entrusted to Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home.
