Record producer, songwriter and actor. Produced a host of hit records in the 1960s, including Black is Black, My Ship is Coming In, Simon Smith and his Amazing Dancing Bear and the Sun Ain't Gonna Shine Any More. The most famous song he wrote was probably I Only Want to Be With You, which was a hit for Dusty Springfield and the Tourists amongst others. As an actor he appeared with Tony Hancock, in the latter's first TV series. His son, Simon Raymonde, was bassist in the Cocteau Twins.
