Edward J. Callery, Lieut. CPD, Ret. was 80. He had lived in Cranston, RI. He passed away at Cedar Crest Nursing Centre, Cranston, RI.

He is survived by his beloved wife Shirley M. (Basler) Callery

He was born in Cranston, RI. He was the son of the late John F. and Laura C. (Pepler) Callery. He was a lifelong resident of the city.

Edward served in the U. S. Navy during WWII in the Asiatic and Philippine Theatre. He received the Asiatic, Philippine Liberation Medals and the WWII Victory Medal. After is service he joined the Cranston Police Department where he served for 25 years retiring in 1973 with the rank of Lieutenant. After his retirement Edward worked as a dispatcher for Petroleum Heat and Power and security for the Cranston Print Works.

He was a member of the Cranston Police Department Retiree's Association and Cranston Police Relief Association, a member of the Teamsters Local # 251 and the #251 Retiree's Association. A Life member of Narragansett-Nelson-Mack Post #4651 VFW, a life member of the Sampson WWII Navy Veteran's Association and a life member of the USS President Jackson (J.P.) APA-18 Association.
