Stanley J. Scytkowski, 78, formerly of Memorial Drive in the Fairview section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Tuesday, July 21, 2015. He passed into Eternal Life at Willimansett Center East in Chicopee surrounded by all the memories he loved and cherished. He was born in Holyoke on July 5, 1937, a son of the late Stanley and Sophie (Serafinski) Scytkowski. He was raised in the Willimansett section of Chicopee, attended local schools and moved to Fairview around 1998. He served his country in the United States Air Force following the Korean War and attained the rank of Airman Second Class. He was last employed as a mechanic for Associated Builders in South Hadley. He leaves his brother and sister-in-law, Robert J. Scytkowski and his wife, Dorothy, of South Hadley; his brother-in-law, Walter Bator of Chicopee; his three children, Stephen, Michael and Linda; and several grandchildren, nephews, nieces and cousins. Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by his son, John Scytkowski; his daughter-in-law, Kathy Scytkowski; and his sister, Janice Bator. His relatives and friends are invited to attend a visiting hour on Monday morning, July 27, 2015 from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. which will be followed by a Prayer Service at 9:30 a.m. at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Fairview Chapels, (413-533-3307), 506 Britton Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His burial with US Air Force Military Honors will follow at 11 a.m. in the Chapel at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam, MA 01001. His family has requested that memorial donations be made in his memory to Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 Saint Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
