Betty Jo Smith, 97 died Thursday, December 14, 2023 at her home in Parsonsburg, MD. Born in Salisbury, MD. She was the
daughter of the last Charles E. Parker and Hannah I. Parker. She married the late William H. Smith on July 25, 1942. They had a deep love for each other and were married 70 years. He died on May 12, 2012.

She was a longtime beloved member of Trinity United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women, serving in various positions at Trinity over her years there. Trinity was an important part of Betty's life, where she made many lifetime friends.

Betty was an avid reader. She enjoyed many types of handwork including sewing, needlepoint, knitting and other types of crafting. In her younger years, she was an enthusiastic bowler and participated in a league. She also loved bingo, dancing at East Side Men's Club with her husband, attending plays and traveling with her husband and close friends. Her most precious accomplishment was taking care of her family.

She is survived by her four children and their spouses: Teresa Beauchamp of Parsonsburg, MD, Gregory and Joy Smith of Delmar, DE, Timothy and Vivan Smith of Sailsbury, MD, and Lisa and Jeff Parker of Hampstead, MD; nine grand-children Beau Beauchamp and his partner Jennifer Grover, Kevin Beauchamp and his wife Carolyn, Michael Smith and his wife Melissa, J.R. Swartz and his wife Bindi,
Stuart Smith and his wife Kara, Katie Smith and her companion Jeff Donoway, Joshua Parker and his wife Allyson, Jordan Parker and his wife Erika, and Jacob Parker and his wife Kelsey; 18 great-grandchildren Caleb Beauchamp, Abigail
Beauchamp, Alan-Michael Smith, Desirae Dize and her husband Jason, Maxx Swartz, Zach Swartz, Jackie Smith, Lucy Smith, Maura Smith, Layla Smith, Jackson Culpepper, Conner Fadely, Emma Fadely, Joey Rozegar, Leo Parker, Owen
Parker, Halle Parker, Violet Parker; one great-great-grandchild, Brynley Dize and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Lillian Nichols, Laura Ellis and Thelma Parker and one brother Vincent Foskey and her son in law, Bill Beauchamp.

A funeral service will be held at Holloway Funeral Home on Thursday, December 21, 2023 at 2 P.M. Visitation will be held from 1 P.M. to 2 P.M. The Rev. Dean DeFino will officiate. Interment will be in Parsons Cemetery in Salisbury.
