Nancy J. Hurtle, 74, passed away on Tuesday, July 21, 2015 in Hospice House in South Bend.

Nancy was born on December 28, 1940 in South Bend to Herbert and Edna (Bliton) Amber. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Wayne Amber.

On October 2, 1959 she married Carmy L. Hurtle. He preceded her in death on June 18, 2003. Surviving are her four daughters, Lisa (Greg) Glassburn of Plymouth, IN, Judith (Gregg) Horner of South Bend, Janet (Gary Neddo) Gard of Mishawaka and Karen (Shad) Taylor of North Liberty; 10 grandchildren, Zachary, Mitchell and Katie Glassburn, Patrick Hurtle, Brandon Gard, Nicholas and Alyssa Horner, Colton, Danny and Jacob Taylor.

Nancy was a Case Worker for the State of Indiana for 25 years before she retired in 2007. She was a lifelong area resident.

She enjoyed spending time with her family. Family and friends were very important to her. She loved her grandchildren very much. Her hobbies included shopping, crocheting and reading. She enjoyed her cat, Miss Piggy and going out to eat with her family.

Funeral service will be in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka on Monday, July 27 at 1:30 p.m. with visitation two hours prior. Rev. Bob Vale will officiate. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery, South Bend.
