Tommy “Tom” Joe Hale, 67, loving husband, father and papaw went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at Norton Community Hospital in Norton, VA.
He proudly served his country in the United Sates Navy during the Vietnam War. He retired from Norfolk Southern Railway in September of 2005.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Jennings Hale and Arlene Cleo Wilson Hale; sisters, Shirley Nations and Sharon Workman; brothers, Jimmy H. Hale, Johnny G. Hale and Gary A. Hale.
Surviving are his loving wife of 41 years, Ruth E. Hale; daughter, Heather A. Hale; son, Thomas Justin Hale; four beautiful grandchildren, Nevaeh, Leha, Zyden and Zyra; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Tommy “Tom” Joe Hale will be conducted at 7:00 P.M. Thursday, July 23, 2015 at the Sturgill Funeral Home Chapel in Wise, VA with Pastor Roger Barker officiating. Family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. till time of services at 7:00 P.M. on Thursday, July 23, 2015 at the Sturgill Funeral Home in Wise, VA.
Graveside committal services and burial with Military Rites will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, July 24, 2015 in the Laurel Grove Cemetery in Norton, VA. Family and friends will meet at 10:30 A.M. Friday at the funeral home to go to the cemetery in procession.
