HADDOCK, Garland Douglas, 96, of Richmond, died July 5, 2015 at home. He is survived by several cousins. Mr. Haddock was a graduate of the University of Richmond and received a Master of Arts degree from the University of Richmond and a Master of Education from the University of Cincinnati. He took special classes at Richmond Professional Institute (now VCU), Washington University (St. Louis) and the University of Edinburgh. He was a member of Phi Delta Kappa education fraternity and Sigma Alpha Epsilon social fraternity. Mr. Haddock was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He taught briefly in Hopewell and Richmond schools before and after World War II. Mr. Haddock served as instructor and headmaster at Staunton Military Academy from 1951 to 1966. He was a disability examiner and a vocational specialist for the Commonwealth of Virginia from 1967 to 1982. A graveside service was held on Monday, July 13, in Riverview Cemetery.
