Brenda S. Van Quekelberg was born and raised in Smiths Grove, Kentucky. She was a long-time resident of Columbus, Ohio prior to moving to California in 1976. Brenda is survived by her sons, Douglas (Karin) Van Quekelberg and Robert Van Quekelberg, and grandchildren Bradley (Heather) Van Quekelberg, Erin Van Quekelberg and James Van Quekelberg. She is preceded in death by her husband, Arthur R. Van Quekelberg, and her parents, Ferdinand D. and Margie B. Stone.

Brenda was a devoted wife and mother. She went to school in Smiths Grove, KY and attended Business University in Bowling Green, KY (now part of the University of Bowling Green). While in college she appeared in numerous local plays and also modeled for the local department stores.

After graduating college, she moved to Columbus, OH and started teaching typing and bookkeeping at Bliss College, a local business school, where she met her future husband, Arthur R. Van Quekelberg. Arthur was a student there taking business courses after serving in the Navy during the tail-end of WWII and being honorably discharged in 1947. They were married in August 1950 where Brenda taught typing and bookkeeping at a local high school prior to having children.

Brenda loved a bargain and spent many hours clipping coupons and was always in search of the next great deal.
