Charlie Clay Ward, 68, of Granite Falls, died July 12, 2015, at Catawba Regional Hospice. He was born in Watauga County on April 3, 1947. He loved playing his guitar and he especially enjoyed older country music and bluegrass.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Emma Kay Ward; sisters, Lilly Ann Miller and Mamie Ethel Eller; and his brother, Arnold Ward.
Charlie is survived by his step-daughter, Katie Branch; sisters, Maxine South, Myrtle Carpenter and Katherine South and husband, Bill; brothers, John Ward and Floyd Ward; five grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial services were private.
