OTTUMWA — Shirley Ann Wilkerson, 88, of 1360 Bluegrass Road, died at 2:40 a.m. November 24, 2014, at Hospice House in Ottumwa. She was born February 17, 1926, in Ottumwa to Arch and Moye Miller Thomas. She married Edward A. Wilkerson on October 1, 1948. A 1944 graduate of Ottumwa High School, Shirley had worked at Spiegel Catalog store and Ottumwa High School. She was a charter member of Questors and was the author of the "Dinner Bell" column in the Ottumwa Courier for many years. Shirley enjoyed cooking for large groups, being involved in her children's sports and antiquing. Surviving are her husband of 66 years, Ed; three sons, Bob (Ann) Wilkerson of Ottumwa, Norm (Sandy) Wilkerson of Cedar Rapids, Dan (Kim) Wilkerson of North Liberty; a daughter, Cindy (William Wall) Wilkerson-Wall of Minnetonka, Minnesota; eight grandchildren, Curt, Matt, Aaron, Andy, Genna, Courtney, Bailey and Paige; eight great-grandchildren, Madilyn, Josie, Jackson, Keenan, Nicholas, Melanie, Olyvia and Lily; a great-great-granddaughter, Mila Grace; and a sister, Patty Buckley of Ottumwa. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Janice Wilkerson; a son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Natlie Wilkerson; a brother, Bill Thomas; a sister, Betty Scott; and brother-in-law, Roger Buckley. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Mel Kendall officiating. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery. Visitation begins at 11 a.m. Tuesday with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice House, 927 Pennsylvania Ave., Ottumwa, Iowa 52501.
