Virginia Beach - Dwight M. Brooks, 83 passed away July 19 surrounded by his family.

He was predeceased by his parents Howard and Erma (Hux) Brooks and two brothers, Harold and Harvey Brooks.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife and best friend of 58 years, Betty Brooks; two daughters, Sandra Brooks of Virginia Beach and Patsy Dozier (Carlmichael) of Chesapeake; four grandchildren, Brooke Robare (Justin Henderson) of Washington, D.C., Mark Robare of Virginia Beach, Brittany Porter (Michael) of Timberville, and Bryten Dozier of Chesapeake; and his first great grandchild, Olivia Rose Henderson.

He was a Marine Corp veteran of the Korean War; retired truck driver of 42 years; a member of Teamsters Local Retiree Union 822 and a member of Providence Evangelical Friends Church.

The family is grateful to Dr. Meredith Rose for all his years of care and to Compassionate Care Hospice for their support.

Visitation Wednesday, July 22, 6pm-8pm and funeral Thursday, July 23, at 1pm at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home/Indian River. Condolences may be offered to the family at:
