Actress, Singer. She was born in Montijo, Extremadura, Spain. After her father was killed in the Spanish Civil War, Quintana and her sister were brought to Mexico by their mother. There she began a succesful career on radio, cinema and television, tragically ended by her death from a cerebral embolism. In films she is best remembered for "Bolero Inmortal" (1958). She also appeared in "Sueños de Gloria" (1953), "El Vendedor de Muñecas" (1955), "El Pueblo sin Dios" (1965), "Enterrado Vivo" (1957), "Poker de Reinas" (1960), "Bonitas Las Tapaítas" (1961), "Se Alquila Marido" (1961) and "Los Años Verdes" (1967). Her television appearances include "Adriana", "El Dolor de Amar" and "El Hipócrita." A collection of her poetry, "Poesías de Elvira Quintana", was published after her death.
