Nancy Ellen (Winn) Maurer passed away peacefully on July 18, 2015 surrounded by her loving family with her husband of 55 years, Dr. Robert Mize Maurer by her side. She was a devoted wife to him, mother to Anne Maurer De Laurell, Virginia Ellen Maurer and Robert Mize Maurer II and mother-in-law to Michael De Laurell, husband of Anne and Alycia Maurer, wife of Robert. Besides her husband, the loves of her life were her grandchildren, Madison Linn De Laurell, Hanah Nicole De Laurell, Robert (Trey) Mize Maurer III, Conor Joseph De Laurell, and Rachel Kathryn Maurer. Virginia O'Connor is Nancy's only surviving sibling, with whom she shared a special relationship.

Her passion was volunteering at her children's school and in support of the Santa Rosa Hospital Auxiliary. She was a member of the Board of Trustees of Texas Military Institute and President of the Santa Rosa Hospital Auxiliary and a member of Texas Association of Healthcare Volunteers.

Nancy joins her parents, Dr. John and Bertha Winn, brother, John Winn, Jr., sister, Karen Peters and grandson, Robert De Laurell. Her strength will continue to live on through her family.

As a special note, Nancy was diagnosed with ALS, or Lou Gehrig's disease, in April of 2014. She showed incredible strength during the progression of the disease and continued to do many of the things she loved, like having her hair done twice a week by her longtime hair dresser Rudy Martinez, traveling to Vegas with her husband, her sister and daughter Virginia and spending time with her grandchildren, whether at a football, baseball or field hockey game at St. Mary's Hall or at home.

In lieu of flowers, Dr. Robert Maurer and his family request you make a donation to the ALS Association.
