Harrison as he was called, was son of Stephen W. Doughty & Nancy Gardiner/Gardner. He married Phebe Alse Benedict 2 Aug 1866 in Woodbury. Son John H. Doty. Phebe died 1870 and Harrison married Mary Eliza Carpenter 21 Dec 1871.He became apprentice of Henry L. Cross, his brother in law. Enlisted in Civil War in Company C, 96th C. V. I. was in battles of Chickasaw Bayou, Arkansaa Post in 1863 where he was placed on duty and given charge of a saw -mill to saw lumber for pontoon bridges for crossing the swamps west of Vicksburg; he was in battles of Port Gibson; Champion Hills; Black river Bridge; and battle of Grand Chateau where he was taken prisoner and held 53 days.
