My mom was a wonderful mom, free spirit, sister, daughter, and friend. She always had conviction and passion for people and causes she loved and was never afraid to throw herself fully into something that interested her. Mom attended Foster Elementary School, Steven C. Foster Junior High, W.T. White High School, and Mother Merrill's Private School. As a teenager, Mom became the vice president of the Dallas Beatles Fan Club where she adored George Harrison from afar. She met my Dad, Mark Lacy at Mother Merrill's before they both graduated in 1969. After high school, they got married and had their daughter, Angela one year later then started their adult life together on Mixon Drive. Four years later son Jeremy came along.
Over the course of her adult life, she started and ran Lakewood Leasing Service from 1984 to 2006. After retiring from Lakewood Leasing, she became a sculpting student at the Creative Arts Center in Dallas for several years where she met her wonderful friend and teacher David Newton. After years of sculpting little people for her house, she started teaching English as a 2nd language at Park Cities Presbyterian church, then the A-berg Center in Dallas. After a few years, she taught a select few students on Thursdays which blessed her greatly. In her later years, Mom tackled causes which affected Dallas History such as the fight to save the name of Ross Avenue. After her efforts for that cause, she started multiple Facebook pages which focused on Dallas History in the 1900s.
Mom was also a proud member of Park Cities Presbyterian Church where she got way too involved in anything and everything between the four walls.
She loved the old hymns during Sunday services and being involved in community outreach programs within the church. She went home to be with the Lord, My Dad, her parents, and George Harrison on July 16, 2015.
Services will be held on July 21, 2015 at 1:00 PM at Park Cities Presbyterian Church with reception to follow.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75243.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Park Cities Presbyterian Church of Dallas.
