Mona M. Davis, 87, of Chatham passed away Monday, July 6, 2015 at Reflections Memory Care, Chatham.
She was born Feb. 1, 1928 in Springfield, one of five children born to John and Elizabeth Wood Reid. She married Robert F. Davis on Feb. 22, 1980 in Waterloo, IA.
Mona graduated from Ursuline Academy, Springfield, and received her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts Degree from St. Xavier College, Chicago. She was a nun in the Sisters of Mercy Order serving as a teacher for many years and was a principal at St. Mary’s School in Lake Forest, IL before leaving the order because of health reasons. She was then employed for the Illinois State Board of Education and retired as a teacher from Waterloo, IA school system in 1990.
Mona was a devoted wife, loving daughter and sister, and a wonderful aunt. She will be dearly missed by her husband, family and friends.
She was a member of St. Benedict’s Church, Holy Cross Parish.
Mona was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers, Jack, Joe, Dave, and Dick.
She is survived by her husband, Robert; one step-daughter, Grace (Gary) Wasko of Urbandale, IA; two step-granddaughters, Lisa (Dave) DeVetter and Kristie Wasko; one step-grandson, Jason (Gijae) Wasko; two great grandchildren, Robin Dawn DeVetter and Giovani Wasko; four sisters-in-law, Marge, Dodie, and Marilyn Reid, and Florence Davis; many nieces and nephews.

Burial will be at Fairlawn Cemetery, Vandalia.
