Suggested edit: This William Beebe is not the same as the one who died in East Haddam on 28 Jan 1788. This one's parents are William Beebe and Ruth Rogers. He married his cousin Jerusha Rogers, that is correct. But you have him linked to the wrong parents!

Not sure why it is William Beebe Jr.
His parent may have been William Beebe Sr.
More research is needed.

Suggested edit: Jr and Sr were used to distinguish between an older and younger man of the same name in an area whether they were father and son or not.

William Beebe (149572935)

Suggested edit: The following from my mother's Beebe genealogy. William's parents (23) are a match.
William, son of 23. Born about 1700 in New London, Conn. Died in East
Haddam, Conn. Jan. 29, 1708. Married first Phoebe, second Eleanor. See
(D.W.Patterson). Their children were Abner 165, Silas 166, Asa 167,
William. 168, Elihu 169, Fannie 170, Eleanor 171, Phebe 172, Ann 173.
If the dates on the stone are correct, best guess is that the JR should be Sr.
