Rites for Mrs.
Deal on Sunday
A funeral service was held Sunday
afternoon at the Sherman
Cotton Funeral home in Victor for
Mrs. Alice DuBois Deal, 84, member
of an old and well known
Victor family, who died in Rochester
last Thursday after a long
period of failing health.
Mrs. Deal will be well remembered
by two generations of Victor
people. She had made her
home in that village for 50 years
and had been active in musical
circles, as a teacher, and in the
social and club life of the community.
She is also well known in
the East Bloomfield and Allens
Hill sections.
She had lived all of her mature
life in the Victor area. She was
born in Addison, April 10, 1872,
daughter of James H. and Esther
VanVoorhis DuBois. She was educated
at Geneseo Normal and her
first teaching assignment was in
the No. 8 school in Victor. She
transferred to the high school department
in 1895.
She was married to Asa Roy
Deal in Sept. 1903. He is now retired
after long service as a mail
clerk for the New York Central
Railroad. He is the only close survivor.
Mrs. Deal was organist for 50
years at the Victor Methodist
church and was a memebr of the
Unity Cub and WCTU.
