Paul Glen Pittman, age 87, of Needmore, PA, died Saturday, July 18, 2015 at Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown, MD.
Born May 5, 1928, in Big Cove Tannery, PA, he was the son of the late Virgil Wilson and Etta Margarete Miller Pittman.
He was a Christian. He attended Board Yard School in Big Cove Tannery. Paul served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a heavy duty mechanic for 37 years with Largent’s Trucking and Implement and retired in 1990. Paul was a member of the American Legion Post #26 in Hancock, MD and was a life time member of the VFW where he served as commander of the Risinger-Stotler VFW Post #4019 in Berkeley Springs.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Phyllis Jean Johnson Pittman at home, two daughters, Cynthia Yvonne Moyer of Hagerstown, MD, Cheryl Jean Ziler of Great Cacapon, WV and one son, Anthony Scott Pittman of Needmore, PA, five sisters, Mona Jean Younker of Fairfax, VA, Alice Golden of Waynesboro, PA, Helen Hann of McConnellsburg, Pa, Judith Kenney of Red Lion, PA and Linda Harr of Big Cove Tannery, PA, two brothers Virgil James Pittman and W. Ray Pittman both of McConnesllburg, PA, six grandchildren, Richard Aaron Moyer and Michael Paul Moyer both of Hagerstown, MD, Christopher Shawn Pittman of Big Cove Tannery, PA, Shane Douglas Pittman of La Belle, PA, Amanda Nicole Oliver of Falling Waters, WV and Zachary Scott Ziler of Great Cacapon, WV, seven great grandchildren, Ethan Alexander Moyer, Evan Oliver Moyer, Bailey Madison Moyer and Austin Michael Moyer all of Hagerstown, MD, Skyler Brooke Pittman of Mercersburg, PA, Peyton Emory Pittman and Avery Jon Pittman both of Needmore, PA along with many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers Larry Allen Pittman, Carl Edward Pittman and Robert Pittman, two sisters, Mary Ruth Mellott and Ethel Davis, two grandchildren Brittany Elaine Ziler and Joshua Adam Ziler.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 25, 2015 at Damascus Christian Church, 717 Big Cove Tannery Road, Big Cove Tannery, PA. Interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on friday at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 95 Union Street, Berkeley Springs, WV, and one hour prior to the service at the church on saturday.
