Mr. Mace was a rigger at the Graves Yacht Yard of Marblehead from 1924-1949.
Born in Marblehead and a lifelong resident, he was the son of the late Samuel H. and Annie (Foss) Mace.
He was a graduate of Marblehead High School, where he was a member of the school's undefeated championship football team in 1922. He was a pitcher for the high school baseball team and later played for the Marblehead Catholic Club team. He was a former member of the MA Picketts and the Red Men of Marblehead.
He is survived by his wife, Marjorie P. (Orne) Mace; three sons, Raymond F. Mace, Jr. of Beverly, Dana G. Mace of Seabrook, N.H., and Gerald M. Mace of Marblehead; four daughters, Mrs. Audrey L. Christensen and Mrs. Joan Mace Risoldi, both of Marblehead, Mrs. Constance T. Blake of Amesbury and Mrs. Barbara Mace Lynn of North Conway, N.H.; a brother, Harvey Mace of Marblehead, 20 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be private.
