Services for Private Darrell D Shryer, son of Curtis and Mamie Shryer were held at 1:30pm Thursday, February 10, 1944 at Eads Chapel in Kansas City, Kansas. The family received many friends and family in the home Wednesday evening, February 9th. Interment was held on February 10th at Bethel Cemetery. Private Shryer was born on December 1, 1924 and worked on a farm near Newtonia, Missouri throughout his younger years until he entered the US Army on March 12, 1943 in the midst of WWII. Darrell was killed in action on January 31, 1944 while serving on the Anzio beachhead with the 756th tank battalion during "Operation Shingle", an Allied amphibious landing against Axis forces in the area of Anzio and Nettuno, Italy. Darrell was survived by his loving parents and seven brothers and six sisters and much extended family.

Services were under the direction of Eads Brothers Funeral Home of Kansas City, Kansas.
