Thomas Dariel "Tom" Rogers, 81, of Zeigler, Illinois passed away at 3:45 a.m., Thursday, July 16, 2015 at his home with his loving family at his side. Tom was born April 12, 1934 in Franklin County, Illinois to James Edward and Beulah Pearl (Cluck) Rogers. He married Billie Mae Sanders April 13, 1952 in Creek Nation. She survives in Zeigler. Other survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Darelynn and Bill Prudent of Zeigler and Kim and Barry McCauley of Princeton; five grandchildren, Brian (Angi) Prudent of Moline, Brandy (Andy) Forinash of Kirkwood, MO, Casey (Skottie) Young of Peoria, Cara McCauley of St. Louis, Erin Beth McCauley of Columbia, MO; six great grandchildren, Sylee, Livi and Pace Prudent of Moline and Blake and Boden Forinash of Kirkwood, MO and Baxter Young of Peoria; four brothers, Jimmy Rogers of Christopher, Don Rogers of Granite City, Eddie Rogers of Christopher, and Bob Rogers of Zeigler a sister, Freda Andress of Kansas City, MO and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Doris Hiller and Darlene Moore. Mr. Rogers was a retired Lab Technician for the former REA Power Plant in Goreville. He was a former Interim Mayor, City Council Member and Night Policeman for the City of Zeigler. He enjoyed traveling with Billie and spending time with his grandchildren after retirement. Grave side funeral services for Mr. Rogers will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 25, 2015 at the Miners Cemetery west for Zeigler with his nephew, Jaime Moyers officiating. There will be no visitation. Family and friends are asked to gather at the cemetery prior to the services. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Mr. Rogers are suggested to Hospice of Southern Illinois, Inc., 405 Halfway Road, Marion, IL 62959.
