Joseph A. Schwarz Sr., 75, U.S> Arm Veteran, passed away on Thursday, July 16, 2015 at Ames Family Hospice House in Westlake, OH surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on October 9, 1939 in Lorain, OH. Joseph enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1962, serving two tours in Vietnam and was honorably discharged in 1973. He retired from the U.S. Post Office. He was a member of the Knights of St. John, Commandery 281and was awarded Knight of the year.

He is survived by his wife of over 41 years, Sunny (nee: Chung) Schwarz; children, Jenny (Dan) King and Joseph A. Schwarz Jr; brother, George Schwarz; and grandchildren, Tyler, Emily, Addison, Aubrey and Hannah.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Aloysius and Arvella (nee: Herman) Schwarz; siblings, James McCoy, Shirley Russo, Myron McCoy, Marvin Schwarz, Raymond Schwarz, Helen Jackson, Wilma Bennet, Marilyn Pine and William Schwarz.

The family will receive friends at Reidy-Scanlan-Giovannazzo Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 2150 Broadway, Lorain (440) 244-1961 on Monday, July 20, 2015 from 4-8 PM and on Tuesday, July 21, 2015 from 10 AM until time of closing prayers at 11:00 AM. Christian burial services will be held at Calvary Cemetery in Lorain, Fr. Louis Thomas, officiating and military honors will be performed by the Lorain Honor Guard.
