Betty J Newsom,82, of Shelbyville, passed away Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at Morristown Manor in Morristown.
She was born Oct 1.1932 to Howard J C. Mild and Loretta Trindle Mild in St Louis, Missouri. She Married Jackie Lee Newsom Sr. on Oct 28, 1950 and he preceded her in death in 2005.
Survivors include five children Ronald L Newsom of Indianapolis, Dianne Hall and husband, Gene, of Florida, David M Newsom of Indianapolis, Jackie Lee Newsom Jr. and wife Elaine, of Indiand husband, Bob, anapolis, and Paul Newsom and wife ,Rita, of Shelbyville, siblings Howard Mild and wife, Loraine, of St Louis, Audrey Kemp of St Louis, and Laverne Hardster of st Louis, sister-in-law, Rita Mild of St Louis, eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Stephen Newsom, and brother, John Mild.
Mrs Newsom had been a resident of the area since 1983 after moving from Indianapolis.
Mrs Newsom was valedictorian of her high school class.
She was a homemaker.
Betty enjoyed Nascar, soap operas, "Wheel Of Fortune" and crossword puzzles. She enjoyed raising her six children. She loved her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her new great-great grandchild.
Visitation will be from 11a.m. to 1p.m. Monday, June 22, 2015, at Glen E George & Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Road, Shelbyville, IN 46176.
Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. David Humphrey officiating.
Burial will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Greenwood.
