Nancy graduated from Lewiston High School in Lewiston, N.Y.
She enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard SPARs at the age of 17, in 1943, and was honorably discharged in 1946. She was so proud to have served her country during WWII. After she was discharged, she earned her BA in Health & Physical Education from the University of Colorado at Greeley and went on to have a career as a Health & Physical Education teacher for many years.
Nancy had a wonderful personality, she was a fun loving soul, who was loved by all. She was very outgoing and made friends with most everyone she met. She loved to travel and had the opportunity to experience life in a variety of places. She was a member of the Red Hats Society for several years. She had a great love for horses from childhood and went on to become an accomplished equestrian. She thoroughly enjoyed cooking, gardening and home décor and always prided in surrounding herself with family and friends.
Nancy was predeceased by her parents, Cornish Edgar and Clarinda Allen; a brother, John C. Allen, and a daughter, Amanda Maggs. She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Charles F. Maggs of Bar Mills; sister, Sally Coup of Shamokin Dam, Pa.; son, Gregory Liscomb and wife Laura of Brewerton, N.Y., daughter Leslie Jackson of Waynesville, N.C., son Marc Maggs and wife Michele of Hollis; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
A memorial celebration of Nancy's life will be held in the spring.
