Billie Westberry was born Wilbur Irene Hammond in Gainesville, Greene County, Arkansas on September 23, 1912. She was the only daughter of 5 children. She married Lloyd Ralph Westberry on April 8, 1932 in Ft. Lauderdale, Broward Co., Florida. They made there home for many years in Miami, Florida and shortly after retirement they moved to Lake Placid, Florida and resided there for 22 years until their passing. She was a retired nurse, a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Lake Placid and of its Women's Circle. At the time of her death, she was survived by her brother Ellis Hammond of Fenton, Missouri and numerous nieces and nephews. Surviving a deadly car accident in the late 1920's in which her girlfriend was killed, Billie suffered for many years from back injuries that occurred during from the accident. Although she endured the pain and discomfort from the effects of the accident, she always provided a loving and open house for her many friends, brothers, in-laws and nieces and nephews. Following the death of her husband Lloyd, she lived with her nephew and his wife in Maryland for approximately a year. She returned home and lived in her home until her passing on May 8, 1992. She is buried along side of her loving husband Lloyd at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lake Placid, Florida.
