Joe Tom was born to Joe DeWitt and Nettie Marie (Sumner) McCreight. He married Billie Jo McDearmon on Oct. 2, 1948 in Hillsboro, Texas.
During World War II, he was in the U.S. Army. In 1989, he retired from General Dynamics with 41 years of working as an aircraft machinist. Joe Tom was an avid golfer, sports fan, liked to fish, was a good baseball player, and track star. His church membership was with the Wesley United Methodist Church in White Settlement.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers; Bennie, Gary, and Dewitt McCreight.
His suvivors include: wife, Billie Jo of Fort Worth; daughter, Gay Pfitzinger and husband, David E. of Weatherford; son, Keith McCreight of Fort Worth; brother, Lloyd McCreight and wife, Bonnie of Waco; sister, Joyce Cain of Hillsboro; four grandchildren: Erin Mullen and husband, John; Myka McCreight; David G. Pfitzinger, and Connor McCreight all of Fort Worth. great-grandchildren: John Aubrey and Annie Elizabeth Mullen of Fort Worth.
