Born Nova Scotia, Canada possibly 25 April 1830. Civil War service in Company B, 35th Massachusetts Infantry (1862-64), wounded at Antietam 9/17/1862, and then transferred to Co. B, 18th Regt. Veteran Reserve Corps (1864-65).

Before Antietam: A 32 year old resident of Newburyport, MA, he enrolled at Private, Company B, 35th Massachusetts Infantry, and mustered in August 1862. He was paid a $200 bounty by the town for enlisting.

On the Campaign: He was in action on South Mountain, and wounded in the left foot at Antietam on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War: He was treated at the Locust Spring Hospital, Sharpsburg, and at hospitals in Frederick, MD and Washington, DC. He transferred to Company B, 18th Regiment, Veteran Reserve Corps 28 May 1864, and was discharged 17 June 1865.

After the War: He was a shipbuilder in Newburyport and was living there to at least 1884.
