James “Jimmy” A. Medlock, age 60, of Trolley Line Rd., Graniteville, S.C., passed away Saturday, July 11, 2015 at Hospice of Charleston, S.C. He was born April 8, 1955 at the Naval Hospital in Camp Lejeune, N. C. to the late CDR Thomas P. Medlock US Navy Retired and Sarah F. Medlock. Mr. Medlock is a Vietnam Veteran serving in the US Navy for eight years. His last tour of duty was serving with the Navy Seals as a special electronics technician on one of the Seal Team Boats. Since his discharge from the service, he was an Avionics Technician for the Naval Aviation Depot in Pensacola, Fl., maintaining the Navy Military Jets and Helicopters. After the Navy Aviation Depot closed in 1996, employed by the civil service, he transferred to Eglin Air Force Base maintaining F-16’s and other military aircraft. Later he transferred to Patrick Air Force Base where he maintained Blackhawk Helicopters. Mr. Medlock worked as an Avionics Technician contractor on many of the Aircraft that occupy our skies today. As a sailor, he ensured our nation’s security making sure our combat planes were ready at a moment’s notice. He believed in fighting for the “FREEDOM” provided by his forefathers.
