On August 10, 2016, I received this obituary from The Pella Chronicle from findagrave member Al Hibbard, of Pella, a Dutch community here in Southwestern Iowa. Mae's last name is spelled Van De Goor in this obituary, which Al told me is the Dutch spelling for the name. I am including this obituary and also the obituary from the Ottumwa Courier, in which the name is spelled as it is on her memorial, which is the spelling in Shaul Cemetery's records. I have also checked Mae's death record at the Wapello County Court House, and her name is spelled VanDeGore on the death record too.

Also note that the first name for Mae's mother is given as Agnes in the obituary from Pella and Alice in the obituary from Ottumwa. I have transcribed both obituaries as written.

On June 13, 2018, I received an edit suggestion from findagrave member Bonita with this information: "Mae's birth parents were John and Susanna (Dollarhide) Fosdick." On August 1, 2018, I checked Mae's death record at the Wapello County Court House again, and the parents' names were not provided on the death record that year. For the purposes of this memorial, I am leaving her maiden name as provided in her obituary, but I am including the information I received from Bonita in the memorial.
