Son of Solomon Champney. He was christened at the First Congregational, Unitarian, in Cambridge, MA, on Apr. 29, 1744.

Husband of Abigail Trowbridge. They wed in Groton, MA, on Oct. 9, 1764.
They had seven children.

2nd married Abigail Parker. They had three children.

Possible third marriage, Susanna (Childs) Wyman.
