Delores (Jefferies) Gibson was born January 20, 1950, in Morriston, Fla., to the late Archie Lee and Classie Mae Jefferies. She was educated in the public school system of Volusia County. She later met and married Robert L. Gibson Jr. and to this union were born seven beautiful children. Delores enjoyed cooking and she allowed nothing to invade the precious time spent with her grandchildren.

On Sunday, the evening of December 23, 2007, at Florida Hospital DeLand, Delores was called from her earthly journey to eternal rest where she was greeted by her parents; a son, Robert Gibson III; aunts, Bertha Moore, Hattie Jefferies, Marion Bernard and Lois White.

Delores will be missed by all who knew her and her memories will be cherished forever in the hearts of her family, including her husband, Robert L. Gibson Jr.; her daughters, Lorrain, Janice and Sheila Gibson; sons, Tracy, Lamont and Darrell Gibson; 25 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren; brothers, Archie Jr. (Regenia), Marion, Danny (Debra), Donnie (Kimberly) and Ricky (Wendy) Jefferies; sisters, Rose Mary Billington, Shirley Ann Carr and Pamela Michelle Jefferies; uncles and aunts, Thomas (Betty) Denton, Betty (Frank) Givens, Johnny (Delores) Denton, Sylvia (Louis) Reed and Gene Denton; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other loving relatives and sorrowing friends.

The Homegoing Service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, 2008, at Mount Calvary Freewill Baptist Church, 710 West Cincinnati Ave., DeLand. Co-pastor Angela Dallas-Johnson of Unity of God's Manna Ministries Inc., will deliver the main eulogy. Burial will follow the service at Union Cemetery, DeLand. The visitation hours are from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Friday, January 4, at Unity Funeral Home. Arrangements are under the anointed care of Unity Funeral Home, 340 S. Woodland Blvd., DeLand, FL 32720 (386) 740-1891. "Serving God is what we do."
