William B. Hibbs, 93, passed away Thursday, July 16, 2015 at Norwalk Nursing and Rehab.
William was born December 1, 1921 in Mitchellville, Iowa to Benjamin “Ben” H. and Marian (Porter) Hibbs.
He has lived most of his life in the Des Moines area. He worked for the city of Des Moines until his retirement in 1984 and was a 55 year member of the Union.
He and his wife, Neola were members of the Pioneers Square Dancing Club and were known affectionately as Grandma and Grandpa. They enjoyed being “snowbirds” and wintered in Yuma, Arizona. There wasn’t anything that William couldn’t fix. He never met a stranger and was always willing to lend a helping hand.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Neola B. (Herndon) Hibbs; daughter-in-law, Edith Hibbs; and great-great-granddaughter, Samara.
Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m., with funeral service at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 21, 2015, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Interment will follow at Mitchellville Cemetery.
