Received the following from Mr. Overmyer:

George H. Lawrence of White Water Twp had enlisted into Co. A. 26th MI with the "Lake Shore Tigers" at Traverse City as a drummer. At about 40 years old, he would muster out with the regiment at Alexandria on June 4, 1865. He died in March of 1912 and his grave is in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Elk Rapids, Antrim County, Michigan. 26th MI: Alexandria, Suffolk, New York Draft Riots, Mine Run, Wilderness, Spotsylvania, North Anna, Totopotomoy, Cold Harbor, Petersburg, Appomattox
Lawrence was laid up in a hospital by late summer of 1864, Capt. Charles Lackey Find A Grave Memorial# 46586272 jokingly wrote to his wife in August of 1864: "Lorance laid out and has got in a hospital in Pennsylvania and makes his brags that he is going to stay there the rest of his term of service. Poor miserable coot he is."
