Bob enlisted in the United States Army in June of 1959 and was honorably discharged in May of 1962. He retired in 2010 after 30 years with Pratt & Whitney Aircraft where he was employed as an aircraft mechanic. Bob was an avid Golfer and member of the Cedar Knob Men's Club and a faithful parishioner of Holy Family Church. Bob was known to many as a hobbyist. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was an amateur photographer. After retiring Bob's greatest joy was traveling to his grandchildren's sporting events. He enjoyed watching his granddaughter participating in junior golf, watching his granddaughter's swim meets and watching his grandson's baseball games.
In addition to his wife, to whom he was married 50 years he is also survived by his two children, his three grandchildren, his brother, a brother-in-law, and his wife, sisters-in-law, and several nieces and nephews. Bob was predeceased by three brothers, Lloyd, Arthur and his wife, Joyce, and Carl Heim.
Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family on Sunday, July 19, 2015, from 2 pm to 5 pm at the Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Rd., Enfield, CT. A funeral procession will gather on Monday, July 20, 2015, at 9 am at the funeral home for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 am at Holy Family Church, 23 Simon Rd., Enfield. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Patrick's King Street Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the American Lung Assoc . of CT 45 Ash St., East Hartford, CT 06108-3272.
