He worked in construction, and he also had a poem published in the volume, "A Fleeting Shadow: The International Library of Poetry," in 2000.

Ross (special friend Steve Reece) of Union; four brothers, Dominick Gregory of Eldora, Joey Gregory of Cedar Rapids, Steven Klosterman of Marshalltown and Calvin Bast of Cedar Falls; five sisters, Angela Gregory of Eldora, Emily Ross of Haviland, Kan., Trisha Gregory and Barbara Michel, both of Marshalltown, and Shelby Gregory of Melbourne; his grandmother, Gwyneth Cole of Eldora; and his girlfriend, April Hoffpauir of Marshalltown.
Preceded in death by: a brother, Duane Matthew Ross; paternal grandfather, David Gregory; paternal grandmother, Patricia Gregory; and maternal grandfather, Elvin Harold Cole.
