Gordon B Wood
Hurricane
Hurricane, UT - Gordon B Wood passed away July 12, 2015.
He was born to John Nenniel and Martha Bradshaw Wood in Hurricane on March 24, 1926.
Gordon spent most of his life in Hurricane and LaVerkin and though he lived in other places during his lifetime when jobs required it, his heart was always in the valley he grew up in and loved.
He served his country in the Navy at the end of WORLD WAR II.
When he returned, he met his sweetheart Donna in Cedar City and they married on December 31, 1946.
Together they raised 5 children and spent 53 happy years together.
Gordon was an entrepreneur at heart and always had some business venture going that kept his boys working close to him.
There wasn't anything he couldn't fix, build or remodel and he taught those skills to his children.
He was particularly proud of the cabin he built with his family on Cedar Mountain where he loved to host and entertain all with his guitar and singing.
Another great joy in his life was having and working his farm along the Virgin River in LaVerkin, a place he had played as a boy.
His farm and cabin provided many fond memories of work and play with his family.
After Donna passed away Gordon found love again and married Shirley Seymour.
They spent many happy years together living in Hurricane.
He was a valiant member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
He served in many capacities but his favorite calling was working with the scouts as Scout Master and he helped many boys achieve the rank of Eagle Scout.
He enjoyed serving several associations in the valley such as the American Legion, Sons of Utah Pioneers, The Grafton Heritage Society and LaVerkin Canal Company.
