Mrs. Rhoda Jane (Teegarden) Bowers was born April 11, 1842, and departed this life Sept. 19, 1926. Mrs. Bowers was born near Knoxville, Ray County, Mo. She died at Richmond. Another pioneer member of the Union Church has passed over on the other side, at the age of 83 years.
She was united to James M. Bowers in marriage at Hamilton, Mo., in the year 1861. To this union were born nine children, six boys and three girls. Eight of whom survive.
She united early in life with the Christian Church of Pleasant Ridge, later transferring her membership to the old Union Church, where she remained a devoted Christian until her death.
A daughter, Mary Frances, and the husband preceded her in death.
Surviving are sons, Polk Bowers of Kansas City, Kans.; George Bowera of Kansas City, Kans.; Joe Bowers of Lawson, Mo.; Austin Bowers of Henrietta, Mo.; Jiles Bowers of Lathrop, Mo.; daughters, Rosa Bowers Clevenger of Richmond, Mo.; Anna Bowers Doll of Kidder, Mo.; sisters, Anna Kelso of Kidder, Mo.; Etta Hunt of Lawson, Mo.; Palestine Teegarden and Maggie David of Batvia, Ark.
The body was brought to Union, where her funeral was preached by Rev. Dorrell, assisted by Rev. Joseph M. Adams, on Sept. 20, before a large congregation.
