Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Hillcrest Baptist Church in Elkhart, Kan., with the Rev. Terrell Giddens and the Rev. Ronald Crosley officiating. Burial will follow in Elkhart Cemetery in Elkhart.
Mr. Elkins was born June 30, 1935, in Santa Rosa, Texas, to Marshall and Genevieve Smith Elkins. After teaching English and Math for 25 years for the Elkhart schools, he devoted his time to farming and traveling until he retired from farming.
Survivors include his wife, Millie Combs Elkins; three children, Dennis Elkins of Durango, Colo., and Renee’ Fisher and Carla Elkins, both of Wichita, Kan.; a brother, Don “Bruce” Elkins of Poteet, Texas; and two stepsons, Jerry Combs of Zanesville and Denny Combs of Columbus.
The family suggests memorials be to Manhattan Christian College or missionaries, in care of the funeral home, P.O. Box 854, Elkhart, KS 67950.
