Obituary for Shelby K. Johnson
Shelby K. Johnson, age 75, passed away Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at her home in Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee.

Shelby was born in Maury County on May 25, 1940 to the late R.L. King and Doris “Foster” Chappell. Shelby has been a long time resident of Maury County. She graduated from Hay Long High School in Mt. Pleasant and then attended Columbia Business College. She met the love of her life David Johnson and they have shared a wonderful life since marrying in July of 1961. Together they have raised a loving family. She worked at First Farmers Bank for a number of years; however, her primary job has been at home caring for her family as a good wife, wonderful mother, and not to mention excellent grandmother. She loved her children and grandchildren dearly and always made sure to keep them fed with her good cooking. Shelby’s faith was important to her and she tried to help the church in what ways she could. She played a big role in her church, Mt. Joy Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She served as the church secretary, song leader, and Sunday School Teacher. She had a Christ like attitude and was full of a His love and kindness.

Shelby is survived by her husband: David Johnson; children: Leigh (Ronnie) Frazier of Mt. Pleasant and Greg (Mindi) Johnson of Columbia; grandchildren: Jeffrey (Nicole) Frazier of Columbia, Rachel Frazier of Mt. Pleasant, Olivia and Ainsley Johnson of Columbia; sister: Peggy McClain of Mt. Pleasant; niece: Lisa McClain; nephew: Jeff McClain of Mt. Pleasant; great-niece: Heather Floyd; great-nephew: Brent McClain; great great-niece: Tenley Deridder; great great-nephews: Easton Deridder and Hunter Floyd.

Shelby was preceded in death by her parents; nephew: Douglas McClain; niece: Julie McClain; and great-niece: Lindsey McClain.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 16, 2015 at Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant. Services will be held Friday, July 17, 2015 also at Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens. Brother Mark King will be officiating.

Pallbearers will be: John Rainney, Mickey Allen, Jeff McClain, Jimmy McClain, Herb Rochelle, Mike Waugh, Brent McClain, and Donnie Burns.

Honorary pallbearers are the Elders of Mt. Joy Cumberland Presbyterian Church and Dr. Chet Jameson.

The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of Maury Regional Cancer Center and Hospice Compassus for their excellent medical care.

In Lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Mt. Joy Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
