Danny Ray Ward, Sr., 72, husband of Dare Baker Ward, went home to be with The Lord, Tuesday, July 14, 2015 following an accident.

Dan was born in Fort Mill, SC a son of the late Courtney Roy and Ola Lowder Ward. He was a graduate of Fort Mill High School and served his country in The U. S. Navy where he served during the Vietnam War. He formerly served with The SC State Highway Patrol as a patrolman. Dan owned and operated Dan Ward House Movers. He was a hardworking man who loved God, his country and his family. His heart was always with his church, Amazing Grace Fellowship in Pickens and he would always go the extra mile to help anyone in need. He was a good man, well loved by his family and will be missed by all who loved him.

Dan is survived by his wife of 50 years, Dare Baker Ward and three children, Derhea W. Lesley and husband, Jody W. Lesley of Liberty, Jennifer W. Carroll and husband, Shawn E. Carroll of Westminster, and Danny Ray Ward, Jr. and wife Norma G. Ward of Six Mile. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Courtney and Clay Lesley of Liberty, Terri and Sebastian Ward, and Natalie Garica of Six Mile and Shawna Carroll of Westminster. Brothers include David R. Ward of Fort Mill and Bill Ward of Camden.

In addition to his parents, Dan was preceded in death by brothers, Freeman L. Ward and Jimmy L. Ward.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2PM Friday, July 17, 2015 at Dillard Funeral Home in Pickens with funeral services following at 2 PM in the funeral home chapel. Entombment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Gardens Mausoleum.
