Melvin Francis Cox married Zelma Idlee Sheffield on Nov 11, 1941 in Overton TX. Melvin proudly served his country in the US Army during WW II. He served 5 years, 5 months and 5 days. They had 3 children: Reba Ladean (1942), Donna Pauline (1946), and Melvin Eugene (1949). He was saved and baptized at First Baptist in Throckmorton TX in 1952. - Our "Daddy" loved his family more than anything. He enjoyed family get-togethers with our grandparents and our extended families. Traveling to be with relatives was a staple in our young lives. His brothers, Noah, Lee, and Odis with their families were almost constant sources of activity and amusement. Family vacations whether state-to-state or county-to-county in Texas were rewarding, educational, bonding and simply joyous. ~ Melvin spent his life working as a truck driver, but he worked driving a truck to live his life .... with his family. He encouraged his children at every turn and we always knew we were loved, provided for and protected with our Daddy around. He and our Mother were a perfect team for 46 years and 25 days. Our home was known for laughter, activity and most importantly, for the love we were blessed to share. ~ We all miss him greatly and look forward to hugging him in Heaven where we will join all those joyous relatives who have gone before us and there will be no more "good-byes".

"Therefore you too have grief now; but I will see you again, and your heart will rejoice, and no one is going to take your joy away from you." ~ John 16:22
