He enlisted and was assigned to Union Company A, Wisconsin 28th Infantry Regiment on Aug 20, 1862. Mustered out as a Private on Aug 28, 1864 at Pine Bluff, Arkansas. He died of disease on Aug 28, 1864, in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, at the age of 46, and was buried in Little Rock, Arkansas.
