Ruby married Richard Bates on August 19, 1955 and together they owned and operated “Porkey’s” Restaurant on 8th and Broadway for 6 years. Ruby worked many years for Kiess Kraft Dental Lab in Omaha and after her retirement, she was employed by First Student as a bus monitor. She attended El Bethel Assembly of God Church.
Ruby was preceded in death by parents, Arthur and Marie Edmonds and brothers, Kenneth and his wife, Shirley Leek, and Virgil Leek.
Ruby is survived by her husband of nearly 60 years, Richard Bates; her son, Al Bates; her grandsons, Adrian & Allen; her great granddaughters, Abbey & Alyssa; her sister, Barbara Petersen; her brothers, Glenn (Goldie) Hanson & Garold “Butch” (Brenda) Hanson; her sister-in-law, Mary Leek; her brothers-in-law, Duane (Betty) Bates & Norman (Carole) Bates; her sisters-in-law, Bonnie Allen & Shirley (Gordon)Frizzell; her nieces; her nephews; her friends; and her Bingo “buddies”.
